Episode #253
Are you living the life you truly want or are you just hiding behind a façade of busyness? Today, Ryan confronts this uncomfortable truth head-on. Guided by insights from Robert Kiyosaki, author of 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad,' Ryan dissects the epidemic of busyness plaguing our society, reflecting on a shocking 2018 Pew Research study that reveals a staggering 60% of adults often feel too swamped to enjoy life. All too often, we're burying ourselves in tasks and activities as a way to avoid facing our fears and tackling life's difficult decisions.
In this compelling discussion, however, we're not just diagnosing the problem; we're offering solutions. We explore how a dash of intentionality can make an enormous difference in your day-to-day life, and how setting the right tone for your day can lead to improved decision-making and relationships. We're giving you tangible ways to identify your true priorities and escape the busyness trap. Most importantly, Ryan challenges you to question whether you're busy with the things that truly matter. Don't let busyness become your excuse. Join Ryan, and let's accelerate the journey towards a more fulfilling, intentional, and truly productive life.

I want to start out here with a quote that really brings into perspective the way that we should be seeing this idea of being busy, and this is a quote actually from Rich Dad, poor Dad, robert Kiyosaki. He says counterintuitively staying busy is the most common form of laziness. Busying ourselves with numerous activities and errands is the way to avoid facing our fears Deep down. We all anticipate this simple truth. That's why we often get annoyed if someone reminds us of that fact. We are too busy to take care of our wealth, too busy to cater to our health and family. Well, I would say that also, we are too busy to take care of our spiritual health and staying close with the Lord. These are things that, instead of addressing the way we should, what we end up doing is busying ourselves to avoid things, to avoid things we know we should do, or to work on, or decisions we need to make, or whatever it might be, or prioritizing relationships, and we busy ourselves to feel like we're productive. But this is a farce. We're not actually being productive.
Very often, what I have found is that even just a little intentionality in this area can go a very long way. For example, if I start my day spending time with the Lord, seeking Him, connecting with Him. Then I can go my entire day led by the Spirit and I obviously am checking in throughout the day and working with Him all day long. But it's setting that tone, setting that pace right from the front and just prioritizing that I make decisions faster. I'm not really sure how and which direction to go, who to contact, what to do, what to focus on, what to prioritize and what doesn't matter, and things don't get to me as much. Relationships are better, my interactions with people are better and I'm just in a better state. So we got to get into a good state to start the day. And I also notice in my work, whenever I just start the work day, well, email and different things fill my time that just are.
It's just wasting time, I'm not actually doing anything, it's like I'm just fidgeting. Or maybe you pick up the phone easy to scroll and just kill some time. Well, instead, if I actually think through what are my priorities for the day, what's the one or two or three things that I have to get done? Well, then that becomes what I fill my time with, instead of the phone or instead of email or whatever it might be. So, let's not be lazy, let's not be busy.
Busy should not be an answer that you're giving to someone when they say oh, how are things? Oh, busy, busy, busy. Are you busy doing the things that God wants you to do? I believe that if you carve out time to slow down, have some intentionality in this area, or whatever area is coming to mind for you, then you will see that you will actually be more productive and you will have more time and you will be more present in whatever it is that you're doing.
