On Saturday, July 16 is the 17th day of Tammuz which begins the Three Weeks of Mourning in Israel over Moses coming down Mt . Sinai and breaking the Ten Commandments as he found the people worshipping idols. It also represents the destruction of the temple and the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem. It is a time of reflection about what are the idols in our life. What do we worship more than God that is preventing us from realizing our inheritance as children of the King? The key question we should be asking is, “What am I afraid of losing?” This question will open you up to what you have not yet released to the Lord, but instead, you work too hard to keep. Idols always manifest as toil and weariness to keep them alive. Your faith growing is a key in this month of Tammuz. We are growing in what to give to God so He can return it to us without the toil! Jesus held fast knowing who He was as the Son of God and He kept worshipping God no matter what false things Satan offered Him! He is our example.
Matthew 4:9-10 reads
“All this I will give you,” Satan said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.”
