Why the Blood?!?

Hebrews 9:22 says,

And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission (Forgiveness).

And then Leviticus 17:11 says,

11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’

So here’s, Why the Blood…

The Blood Covenant!!!

The etymology of the Hebrew word for Covenant is Berith.

Berith comes from the root Hebrew word Barah which means, meat.

So when you would say… Make Covenant you would say…

“Karat Berith”. Literally meaning, Cut Meat!

The very first time we see the Blood shed for a covering is in Genesis 3:21, which says, “Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.”

So when God wanted to a ATONE (to coat or cover or pitch) for the sins of Adam and Eve He, Karat Berith… Cut Meat!!!
